Responsible cycling

With the nice weather arriving we see more and more people cycling to work in the mornings. They are particularly noticeable in the downtown core and on the parkways. Cycling to work is laudable for a number of reasons including being good for the environment and being part of a fit and active lifestyle for the cyclists.

It should be noted however that cycling to work may require that one plan their wardrobe appropriately so that they have clothes for cycling and clothes for working.

A suit and tie can help you look professional at work during the day but it looks ridiculous on a bike unless you are an actor on your way to audition for the lead role in a new Mr Bean movie. Not to mention that cycling in the "Full Fitzpatrick" on steamy Ottawa valley summer days like yesterday simply means you are sealing in the juices for the enjoyment of all those whom you may encounter throughout your day.

There is nothing wrong with cycling to work so long as you do it responsibly.
